Update on: Civilization 5 for Mac has been released! The official release date of Civ 5 for Mac was November 23 2010. You can order Civilization V for Mac from Amazon, which includes free shipping. Great news for Mac gamers, Civilization 5 for Mac has arrived. We knew that Civilization 5. Civilization V is also part of SteamPlay, so if a customer purchases the PC version, he will also be able to download the Mac version. However, if a user chooses to purchase the Mac version through SteamPlay, Aspyr (who develop the Mac version of Civilization V) receive none of the revenue. Civ V is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. I’ve played it on a Dell Latitude E6420 with 4GB of RAM under Windows 10, that I upgraded to the discrete Nvidia Quadro video card with 512MB of VRAM.
Running 10.6.8 everything was working fine until this auto update. Now I cannot play until I update to a new OS. There is no reason that this game needs an OS greater than what I have to work, as was made apparent by the happiness I have been experiencing for the past 5 years. Would love to know how to uninstall the most recent update, or even better it would be great if steam changed what it did to autoupdate me back to a place where I can play this game again. Anyone from Steam out there and what to provide a response to this community of players? Good evening everyone! I am by no means an expert on the topic, but I seem to have found a solution to my issue running Civ.
I posted some screenshots to imgur detailing how I changed the Minimum System Version for my game files, and hopefully it can work for you as well! Here's the link: If you don't trust my link, you can search for 'Solution to June 11 Civ V Mac Shenanigans' on imgur. Best of luck! If this doesn't work, please post more specific issues and I'll continue to procrastinate by helping you guys out!

NOTICE: This game is not supported on volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive). NOTICE: Intel integrated video chipsets (GMA 950) are not supported. Game is buggy-will send units in undesired directions at critical moments, throwing the game.Foreign military units are not shown forming or advancing until they are upon you, even with no roads or rough terrain. Precise placement of units is haphazard when moved.
Computer seems to set you up for war and confrontation continuously.Enemies attacks seem to count more score points than equal units of your own when you attack. Almost impossible to win against combined alliances, even at beginner level.Gave up and moved game into trash. Civilization 4 was definitely the epic peak, so far, of this series (though I have my hopes up for 25th year anniversary of the series coming up) and Civ 5, while beautiful and intuitive, was a dramatic almost devastating (for big fans of the civformula) break from the first 19 or 20 years of the franchise, almost resembling at first glance something designed for an ipad or cellular device. That being said, the newest version improves greatly with the expansions and downloadable content and keeps the most important aspects of the Civilization series, such as hot seat and exciting gameplay to keep you on the edge of the hot seat, as it were. At first it seemed the series had taken a distinct turn towards a chess or go-like gameplay, but after playing the boardgame diplomacy, I understood the logic and methodology behind the radical new system of combat that at first literally left my brother and I sputtering in fury as we were used to stacking our units, without regard to supply.
As the scenarios and expansions became available, and you actually take the time to get used to the gameplay (I actually played Colonization for some small period in protest to this newest kindergame), Civilization 5 will win converts of family and friends and eventually win back the diehard civ loyalist as well, with a minimal opening of the mind.
